Fluid for Mac - Websites become Apps

Download Fluid at FluidApp.com

So I tried using iCal, iChat and iMail... but just couldn't get used to them. I really like the feel of google products. I ended up finding something called Fluid which lets you make any site into an app. It seems like pandora and gmail apps are kinda mem/cpu hogs but my other apps like google chat, google tasks and calendar are fine. Best of all, its free! Check it out!

This site shows what fluid can really do:

Great guide for hooking up Gmail with growl, customizing the look and more:

Google Talk app - Use fluid and make this site into an app

UPDATE:

I have found it very difficult to use Fluid with gmail. While reading emails, my Gmail Fluid app makes it almost impossible to open links in new tabs. Also, all new windows are opened in a fluid app window. Finally, it seems to use way to much RAM / CPU for my liking. The Solution? Notify! Read more about Notify here.

This doesn't mean Fluid is no good. I still love using Fluid to easily listen to my Pandora radio and check my Google Calendar among other things.

No need to download music, just use grooveshark.com. It lets you build playlists, skip through songs, fast forward and rewind and play the same song over and over. If you don't like building your own play list, just use their radio feature.

Best Way to Learn CSS

If you want to learn CSS, watch through the entire CSS Noob to Ninja video series by netTuts. Its amazing!

Learning AS2 & 3

I was reading a forum and ran across this:

Use an object if the indexes are strings, a vector if they are integers and you only have one type, an array if the keys are integers but you need multiple types that doesn't have a common base type and use a dictionary if the keys are anything else.

So basically we use those class depending on what kind of indexes and element types that we want to use? And there is no rules that we must use Object class for creating associative array?
Just figured I should learn what each type does and how to use them.

I may update this post with links to useful resources related to each one... then again, I may forget. :P

IBM - Recommended PHP reading list

IBM - Recommended PHP reading list - View Main Page

Fantastic! I hit a wall today trying to program PogoTic.com. I am getting into more advanced sql statements and handling objects in different ways. So far my experience with classes has been limited. This reading list has some amazing information. It provides a lot of information on just about every topic related to PHP.

The best part, its written very well and they do a wonderful job of applying it to real world situations. I used to  tell everyone to buy "PHP and MySQL Web Development" by Luke Welling and Laura Thomson. Now, I would say save your money and just read IMB's step 1,2,3 tutorial. If you don't figure out how to use PHP after that, then maybe buy the book.

Here are some great PHP beginner tutorials:

All the articles are great but here is what I was really looking for:

Privacy Policy / Terms Of Service Generator

Visit Site

This site allows you to easily create your own terms of service and privacy policy by simple entering your company name and state. It seems to be very short and very basic but it looks like a good starting point. Another generic terms of service agreement can be found at Ameriseal. It seems to be more detailed but doesn't fill in the blanks for you.

JS Bin - Online javascript editor

JS Bin - Online javascript editor.

This site seems to be pretty handy when it comes to testing bits of javascript. You can edit the code and then test it right away.

Probably the coolest part is you can save it and share it with the world. Great for tutorials and such. Another neat feature is that you can include a number of different scripts with the click of a button.

Overall, im sure there are othe online editors out there but this one is simple and great for a quick test.

DailyBurn - Burn Fat, Lose Weight and Gain Muscle

DailyBurn.com - Burn Fat, Lose Weight and Gain Muscle

This site so far has been pretty decent. It's fairly simple to enter how much food you eat and what kind. The search engine seems to have a lot of foods available to choose from. However, if you can't find the food you are looking for you can always create your own.

The free version gets you pretty far and it doesn't look necessary to have the paid version, although I'm sure it doesn't hurt to have those extra features. The sites user interface is also really nice with lots of image and a good variety of color.

The exercise section is actually pretty cool. You can choose from a number of different work out routines and it has videos and images of how to do workouts. Some of the workouts you can even do without any weights.

mypyramidtracker.gov had some very detailed reports but was lacking a decent user interface and selection of foods. Then again, it is a government site, you can't really expect them to keep up the latest foods and user interface.

Keep track of what you eat and lose weight.

The idea of keeping track of what you eat to lose weight isn't a novel idea. It's been around for years and has been seen in many fade diets like Weight Watchers. However, it really works if you do it everyday. Keeping track of what you eat and even how much you workout is by far the easiest way to lose weight safely. It doesn't require you to stop eating certain foods-although it helps to cut out some sugar-it just means consciously watching what you eat and making sure you don't eat to many calories, carbs, fats, and sodium each day. So far by simply watching what I eat and working out occasionally (1-4 time a week) I have lost 30+ pounds. This has taken me over six months, but its been well worth it.

What I will be doing is posting a few sites that I found to help keep track of what you eat and how much exercise you do. I'll try to test them all but I can't make any promises. So check out the fitness or bookmark section on the site for all the fitness sites that I have found useful.

Some of the sites include:
MyPyramidTracker.gov
DailyBurn.com
LiveStrong.com
LoseIt.com

This tool is really cool and fun to play with. You can add a tone of pedals and hook them up to other devices like the tone matix, beat box machines, and drum machines just to name a few. Or click on the picture above.

AMERISEAL - Generic Terms of Use

The website: AMERISEAL - Generic Terms of Use

Starting your own business isn't easy by any means. On top of the hundreds of things you already have to do just to get a business off the ground, let's throw legal documents on the pile.

I'm definitely not a legal expert by any means but this document seems like a pretty solid start for creating your websites Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. However, it's probably best if you seek out an actual lawyer and get them to write your Terms an Policies. If your like me, on a tight budget, then this might just work for the time being.

If there are any lawyers reading this, let me know if this document has any problems. It seems pretty solid when you compare it to other sites Terms and Conditions.
